Kay Grant and Marcio Mattos are two musicians who share an affinity for free improvisation built on diverse stylistic foundations, origins in the Americas (New York and Rio de Janeiro respectively) and a long lasting relationship with London. Grant’s collaborators include Elliott Sharp, John Zorn, Alex Ward, John Russell, Ntshuks Bonga, Martin Speake, Liam Noble, Mark Sanders, John Edwards, Alison Blunt, Hannah Marshall and Sarah Gail Brand. Mattos has worked with Evan Parker, Derek Bailey’s Company, Marilyn Crispell, Dewey Redman, Georg Graewe, Chris Burn, John Butcher, Phil Minton, Martin Blume, Eddie Prévost and many more. Together they create a finely nuanced sound, full of dynamic changes and flowing ideas.
The concert will also feature music by Oxford Improvisers, with guests.
