The longest-standing improvisation collective in the UK, Oxford Improvisers is delighted to be showcasing the very best contemporary improvised music in the fabulous acoustic of the Holywell Music Room. A real treat!
We’re delighted to be showcasing some of our members’ particular musical treasures:
duck-rabbit is an innovative experimental ensemble with three distinct but overlapping configurations.
The first is an all acoustic improvising trio, comprising saxophone, piano and double bass. The second is an all electronic trio in which sounds collected on location are used as source material for electronic improvisations. The final incarnation involves each member of the group taking on a dual role as an acoustic and electronic performer. In this setting, all electronic sounds are derived in the moment. The group’s development has been driven by a constant desire to explore sound and develop new means of expression.
Kesia Decote is a Brasilian pianist based in Oxford.
“I am a pianist with a passion for colours and shapes, playfulness and a surrounding audience. I am interested in exploring the context of my piano recitals in order to create unique and deeply immersive artistic experiences for my audience.”
We’re going to be making the very most of this wonderful venue with some specially convened performances.
